Alfie Dogs Top 10 Prospects 2024.
Edge Defender Florida State
Verse is a relatively inexperienced football player , and that shows up in some pass-rush counters and in tackling, but he brings his elite talent with a hard hat and lunch pail approach to every snap, wins with strength regularly and is built like a hall of famer. I LOVE THIS PLAYER
- Very powerful player. Speed-to-power move can be devastating.
- Violent hands.
- First-step explosiveness is NFL-caliber.
- Smart with his swim move. He can go to it quickly and instinctively to counter the momentum and direction of a pulling blocker.
2.) Joe Alt
Tackle Notre Dame
The NFL draft is all about finding players with size, speed and strength who have the IQ to use those traits optimally. That's Joe Alt, and that should spell a top-10 selection as a future long-term tackle.
- Hands are consistent in their pre-punch placement.
- Extremely impressive athlete.
- Great awareness to look for work and block the most pressing defender.
- Has a finisher’s mentality in the run game.
3.) Marvin Harrison Jr.
WR Ohio State
Harrison comes from Hall-of-Fame bloodlines, and you can see that in his tape without even knowing his last name. He has a truly rare blend of size, speed, strength and football IQ for such a young player. He will be a WR1-caliber player the day he is drafted, and one in the mold of a Tier 1 NFL wideout.
- Versatile in his releases off the line of scrimmage against press.
- Body control is so good for a player of his size.
- Active and precise hands to get off press.
- Has the long speed to consistently threaten vertically.
- Excellent hands. Makes the most of his catch radius and has spectacular catch ability and coordination.
- Elite footwork. Release speed/cuts are elite
- Willing blocker with good strength and long arms.
4.) Byron Murphy II
Defensive Tackle Texas
Murphy is a gifted defensive lineman in both the strength and speed categories. He is a versatile three-down player who brings plus abilities as a run defender and a pass rusher, i project him as an impact starter for any front.
- Strong player.
- Violent. Throws offensive linemen aside in run defense.
- Upper-body strength to bench press o-linemen with good leverage.
- Punch and press are so imposing.
- Explosive first step.
- Great balance.
5.) Quinyon Mitchell
CB Toledo
Mitchell exhibited some of the best advanced coverage techniques I have seen in a college player. He has all the ability in the world to be a CB1 at the next level, but his lack of experience in press coverage could stop him from being a unanimous first-round pick on every team's board.
- Very impressive athlete. Body control, explosiveness and top speed are all well above average for the pros.
- Backpedal is smooth and loaded to break on the ball at any sec.
- Downhill speed in off-coverage is strong. Quarterbacks threw his way a lot because they didn't believe he could get there, and yet, he often did.
- Anticipation in off-coverage is excellent.
6.) Laiatu Latu
Edge Defender UCLA
Overall, though somewhat disadvantaged in center of gravity leverage, his home is in the offensive backfield due to his hand usage and pass-rush moves that will continue to win at the NFL level.
- Hands are precise, fast and, most importantly, planned.
- Quickness and agility are a nightmare for interior offensive linemen.
- Vast repertoire of pass-rush moves.
- Eyes are always in the backfield for the ball.
- Above-average bend/corner ability.
7.) Edgerrin Cooper
Inside Linebacker Texas A&M
Cooper has the length and the athleticism to be a starting-caliber linebacker in the NFL in a downhill role. His violent anticipation and instincts for work in the trenches will likely surprise NFL Defensive Coaches.
- Downhill player who is willing to take on blocks at the LOS.
- Top-tier athlete in change of direction, burst and long speed.
- Effective blitzer.
8.) Jackson Powers Johnson
Center Oregon
Powers-Johnson possesses starting-caliber power and finesse traits at center or guard for both zone or man/gap-blocking concepts. He is dominant enough at his position to be considered a top interior Oline talent.
- A big-time people-mover in the run game.
- Big chest and midsection help generate a ton of upper-body strength.
- Dense player who can anchor quickly and effectively.
- Destroyer-of-worlds type of mentality.
- Very good grip strength to toss defenders to the side.
9.) Chop Robinson
Edge Defender Penn State
Regardless of his lack of polish, Robinson is a gifted player athletically — likely on a level that is top of the class. A lot of what leaves you wanting more from Robinson is coachable. Unlocking that is the key for him to go from a boom-or-bust athlete to a dominant edge defender.
- Naturally low and loaded stance.
- Explodes off the front foot with consistency.
- Elite first-step explosiveness and acceleration up the arc.
10.) Bo Nix
QB Oregon
Nix's experience manifests in the form of pre-snap reads, play under pressure and avoiding negatives. His footwork is surprisingly disciplined, and he is diligent in reading his progressions. He is a QB with starting-caliber tools in his arm and his legs, and he comes with the added benefit of off platform and out-of-structure playmaking.
- Arm strength is more than adequate for the NFL level.
- Mobility is definitely a plus to his game.
- Good feel for the pocket/pressure and where to go with the ball afterward.
- Does well to avoid negative throws and not take sacks — smart player.
