The White Waiting Room

As the boy lay in his hospital bed, his mind drifted into a realm of subconsciousness, where reality blurred and dreams took shape. In this ethereal landscape, he found himself in a vast white waiting room, devoid of any color or sound. His presence seemed insignificant amidst the vast emptiness that surrounded him. Standing beside him was an elderly man, his grandfather on his mother's side. Although they had never met in the waking world, the boy felt an inexplicable connection to the figure before him. It was as if their souls had intertwined in the realm of dreams, bridging the gap between the past and the present. The grandfather, clad in a simple white suit, exuded a sense of calmness and wisdom. His eyes, gentle yet knowing, gazed upon the boy with a mixture of love and sadness. Together, they stood in silence, enveloped by the stillness of the room. Time seemed to stretch endlessly as they waited, suspended in a state of limbo. The boy's thoughts drifted to memories he ...

The Story of Christi

Image
Christi is a guitar, An Ibanez Ex350 made in South Korea that my father bought me in 1989. Technically Christi is the second guitar I ever owned, but my first guitar was a cheap excuse of a guitar called “Starforce”. My point is that Christi was the first real guitar I had when I actually became a capable guitarist.  One of the most spiritual concepts of learning the discipline of playing guitar is an inert relationship with the instrument. Many may think that the electric guitars quality as an instrument is related to the manufacture. Nothing is further from the truth. The “electronics” of an electric guitar can be easily swapped for premium electronics, what stands out in most guitars is, at the risk of sounding ridiculous, the soul of the wood.  I have played 200$ guitars that were far superior in just being blessed by that inert quality, than 3000$ guitars. Christi had that inert quality. I have owned more than 20 guitars in my life, and I have played thousands, yet it too...

Alfie Dogs Top 10 Prospects 2024.

1.) Jared Verse  Edge Defender Florida State Verse is a relatively inexperienced football player , and that shows up in some pass-rush counters and in tackling, but he brings his elite talent with a hard hat and lunch pail approach to every snap, wins with strength regularly and is built like a hall of famer. I LOVE THIS PLAYER Very powerful player. Speed-to-power move can be devastating. Violent hands. First-step explosiveness is NFL-caliber. Smart with his swim move. He can go to it quickly and instinctively to counter the momentum and direction of a pulling blocker. 2.) Joe Alt Tackle Notre Dame The NFL draft is all about finding players with size, speed and strength who have the IQ to use those traits optimally. That's Joe Alt, and that should spell a top-10 selection as a future long-term tackle. Hands are consistent in their pre-punch placement. Extremely impressive athlete. Great awareness to look for work and block the most pressing defender. Has a finisher’s mentality in t...

The bias of the white defensive back. (Ethan Bonner)

Image
The highest rated defensive player according to PFF for the Miami Dolphins was an un drafted white defensive back from Stanford. I realize that his snap total represents a small sample size, however I will point out that he totaled more snaps than Cam Smith who was the Dolphins first selection in 2023.  I highlighted Bonner to my brother as a player I felt was being overlooked. I saw a physical, long, disciplined and explosive athlete. In fact his RAS for the position of CB was an elite 9.6. He ran a 4.4 in the combine, faster than Cam Smith. He graded higher than Cam Smith as a defensive back his last year of college. Furthermore he is just as tall and long.  Cam Smith was a second round pick, Bonner wasn’t even drafted! I have been studying the draft for years now, and the only explanation that makes any sense for this league oversight is that he is a WHITE defensive back.
