Nature, Tribalism, and the Alchemist.
Try to visualize our world disconnected from our species. homo sapiens are biologically Mammals, but as a species we are BY FAR the most in conflict with our surrounding nature. Every other species operates according to natural law, humans unnaturally bend their surroundings like Alchemists. Wielding the power of invention and/or innovation to shape the world in our image.
Understandably we view this departure from natural law as a devine inheritance, our species birth right. However, despite our mastery of the alchemy of nature, we are still Mammals who share natural characteristics with other Mammals.
Tribalism
The Wolf is an apex species on this planet. Wolves, are a FUCKING problem in nature. Wolves started to become endangered because farmers couldn’t hunt them, so they developed poison tactics that decimated wolf packs. Absent of Humans, Wolves are impossible to hunt, run in large packs, Can smell anything within a square mile, and develop extremely emotional bonds with the pack. The Folk Lore of a child being raised by wolves is showing reverence to the nature of the wolf, a nature very similar to homo sapiens. However, Wolves are deeply tribal animals! Yellowstone tracked 6 wolf packs in a 5 year span, and the outline of the tracks might as well have been national borders.
Humanity instinctively rejects the implication of “Tribalism” easily dismissing it as beneath us. Honestly, I rejoice in the fact that our species still shares some aspects of natural law, The Tribalism of Wolves.
