Channing Tindall. (The Misunderstanding of a unique trait).

I first noticed Tindall in the National Championship against Alabama. I was mesmerized by his physical talent, and according to my objective observation he was the most impactful/disruptive Linebacker on a stellar defense. I saw a player with balance and unparalleled conviction when he decided to attack. I remember that with 7 minutes left in the first half, with Alabama threatening on Georgias 6 yard line; In a 3rd and goal situation, Tindall was asked to spy the talented and elusive Heisman winning QB Bryce Young. The ball is snapped, Tindall maintains his line of sight by strafing left and the moment that Bryce exits the pocket he attacks the QB from 10 yards out and in a fraction of a second he engulfs the agile signal caller with devastating conviction, a conviction that could not be side stepped, or deceived.

Needless to say I was intrigued. Consider that I was well aware of how talented Georgia’s defense was, but yet I truly was not impressed with any One individual talent; But then I saw 41 destroy an elusive QB by overwhelming him with pure physical talent and rare unfettered attack! His tape is gushing with overwhelming attack speed and deliberate approach that is immune to fakes, pumps, or deception. Tindall is coming, he is coming fast, and you cannot fake your way out of his path.

I find Tindall do be a case study on player evaluation. Many of his perceived negatives, such as a propensity to lack instincts in play recognition, are both misunderstood and misleading. First, he led Georgia in tackles per snap by a wide margin, how bad can he be in diagnosing plays considering that when he is on the field he leads a stellar defense in tackles? Second, his perceived lack of instincts is a manifestation of his special trait of conviction. Lastly, his athleticism is so overwhelming that he can adjust and still win with his aggressive pursuit.

I think this an inspired pick for Miami for one reason. How many times have you seen Josh Allen evade a free rusher because that rusher hesitated for a fraction of a second? Tindall has that special unique talent that when he decides to attack THERE IS NO HESITATION!
