Defending The Dolphins for pursuing Watson

DISCLAIMER!!

I realize how distasteful the allegations against Watson are, and if they are true, I find them to be disgusting and immoral. My perspective is simply based on the only thing I can have a perspective on, observation.

The Distortion of Narrative.

Many media pundits will make a correlation between the Dolphins win streak and the end of the trade deadline. Although, it is true that Miami’s win streak started Nov 7th vs the Texans, it is a false Narrative to lazily assume that it had anything to do with the end of trade speculation.

There where many contributing variables.

1.) The Defense changed their scheme and found a prolific formula

2.) Tua was injured and returned against the Ravens (the weak after the trade deadline) in the second half.

3.) The schedule softened, the team got healthy and the blue chip rookies started to evolve in the system.

The false propaganda that the win streak was in any way a result of stress relief over the trade deadline is simply click bait garbage.

The QB Rationalization

I think Tua is a rare QB talent that has 2 elite traits. I championed his selection, I root for his success, and I admire his personality. However, I am also convinced that he will NEVER be the talent that Watson exhibited as a professional. I feel that it is wishful delusion to conclude that Tua possesses such prolific talent. To be clear, very few do. Watson has the talent to be the best QB in the universe.

Propoganda is not truth

It is easy to understand why an accepted assumption to pursue a presumed sexual deviant would ultimately manifest into negative propaganda. Nevertheless, consider the fact that no criminal charges have been levied and how unlikely any of the allegations are ever adjudicated. It is easy to presume that the truth will never be known and that Watson will one day inevitably play football.

Organizational Prudence

always have the insecurity that Miami teams never get the benefit of the doubt. The Hurricanes always get shafted and are victims of a double standard, and the Dolphins’ inadequacies get sensationalized and mischaracterized, i.e. Bully Gate. However, I feel it would be professionally irresponsible to abstain from the pursuit of a generational QB because of media rumors and the premature judgement that it creates.

Objective Observation

1.) Miami had no choice to entertain Watson. Tua was injured, the team was in disarray and the price for a proven commodity would never be lower.

2.) Tua will never be the caliber talent that Watson is, it doesn’t mean he can’t win, but Watson is just a generational talent with abilities Tua simply doesn’t possess.

3.) The distinction between Civil complaints and criminal indictment is very important. Watson is still to this point not charged with a crime, he is being sued. It is easy to fall victim to the noise of his disgusting allegations but he STILL is not charged with a crime.

4.) Watson has been public with his desire to play in Miami, for Miami to ignore all the relevant variables. Variables such as, Talent, Judicial realities, Clear upgrade, and Inevitable discount; would be organizational incompetence.
